The Junior Optimist Club is a group of high school students who have joined together, under the guidance of an Optimist Club, for the purpose of developing citizenship, serving the community and learning to accept the role of responsible citizens. It is sponsored by the Rock Falls Optimist Club. Its motto is “Kids helping kids.” It is the school’s community service club. There are currently five Junior Optimist Clubs in Illinois; Belleville, Deerfield, Highland, IVC and Rock Falls. Rock Falls High School was the first to be chartered. Annual events and activities include the Optimist Fishing Derby, Night for the Homeless fundraiser for the PADS Shelter, Optimist Highway Clean-Up, Rock Falls and Sterling Christmas walks, and numerous other community services as requested.
